Today I logged on to
www.theknot.com for about 10 seconds, took the time to enter our expected wedding date (April 24, 2010) into the site, and then closed the browser as soon as it asked me to create a free account. Why? I don't know. It was overwhelming to think about all the planning I'm going to have to do, and maybe I'm not ready to start that process yet. After all, we're in a recession over here, they are laying off people at both of our jobs, and money is tight everywhere -- and then I need to plan a wedding amidst all this? It makes me nervous to think about signing a contract for a venue or a band or other wedding-related costs and then what if our finances take a downtown? Maybe it's better to wait a while. We have some time -- we're not even getting married until next year. So I'll tackle theknot.com another time.
I know what you mean, it can be overwhelming, even without a recession to worry about! My best advice is to keep it simple, be creative, take it piece by piece.
