Before the wedding planning ... the home improvement!

We have been living in our house for about 14 months. It still looks like we just moved in yesterday. So earlier this month I gave my fiance a deadline of the end of January to fix up the room on the first floor that serves as his home office. Well, a couple weeks went by and he made no progress. Then, I was thinking about in the future, if we have kids, I will need to change my third-floor home office (which is currently a storage room anyway) into a nursery, as it's the only room near our master bedroom. So I decided that we'd have to change his office into our office now rather than waiting until later.

That was earlier this week. We planned to work on the room this weekend. All day Saturday however, we were busy with other activities. So today, Sunday, he spent the afternoon cleaning out the office (we had unopened mail in there from our old address at the apartment!) and that we are still going to have the room redone by the end of the month -- which is only six days away.

Unfortunately I don't have any photos of how the room looked before he started cleaning it up, but here's how it looked after several hours of work.

Above is the hallway leading into his room. As you can see, the mess has spilled over into the hall ...
Above is the closet. Before he started cleaning today you couldn't really see the floor.
So here's the plan: We want to paint the room "Obstinate Orange", a Sherwin Williams color. The adjoining bathroom will be "Teal Stencil". We'll put a couple of Ikea birch-finish desks along the back wall, plus Ikea shelving above the desk. My birch Ikea filing cabinet currently in my storage room masquerading as an office will be moved down to our new joint office. Eventually we'll replace the carpet with hardwood or another hard flooring but that's not in the six-day plan.
So, somehow, we hope to get the room painted and bring in new desks and shelving, and get rid of the old stuff, in six days. Wish us luck.
After we accomplish that, I want to focus on my storage room, formerly planned to be my home office, in February. It will now be the "library" and guest room. We already have a black Ikea sofa bed in there and birch Ikea book case. That room will need a lot of work. We bought the paint for it (Sherwin Williams "Envy") several months ago but never got around to painting it.
After that, in March, it's time to focus on the living room and kitchen.
In April and May, my parents are coming in two trips to stay with us!! So the pressure is on. But not just for them. For me and B as well. I want to live in a house that is calming, not messy and irritating. MUST GET THIS HOUSE LOOKING GOOD!
